Dr. SenthilVelan has honed his skills in knee and shoulder arthroscopic surgery at Royal Bournemouth Hospital working with big names in these fields. He also has been trained in Total Joint Replacements at Derwent Unit, Royal Bournemouth Hospital, a centre that performs most number of replacement surgeries in whole of UK. In order to widen his exposure in the chosen field, Dr. Velan has also spent time with some of the principal shoulder and knee surgeons in Germany and France.
Dr. Senthil Velan serves as Head of the Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Department at MIOT International, Chennai. He provides advanced orthopaedic care and specialized treatment for shoulder, elbow, wrist, and sports-related injuries. He performs complex arthroscopic procedures and joint replacement surgeries using modern surgical techniques. Patients from across India and abroad consult him for expert management of joint conditions and sports injuries.
Education
Dr.Senthil Velan has had a brilliant academic career. He finished his MBBS from Kilpauk Medical College and went on to finish Orthopaedic Post graduation in JIPMER (which is one of the premier institutes in India).During this period he received a number of academic distinctions including best Outgoing student in JIPMER 2004 and EBOT exam 2011.
He subsequently underwent Orthopaedic training in Wessex Region in United Kingdom. He has undergone specialist fellowship training in Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist surgery in Royal Bournemouth Hospital, UK for 2 years. He had done more than 1500 Shoulder, Elbow and wrist surgeries.
He has been accredited with Fellowship from European board of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery.
He has also done innumerable Knee and ankle Ligament reconstructive surgeries for sports injuries.
He also undertakes Knee, Hip replacement surgeries .He has worked in UK ‘s Largest replacement Unit having done more than 500 Knee and Hip replacements.
He is very active academically and has presented in numerous international and national conferences. He has more than 15 publications in Peer reviewed journals to his name.
He has setup a PhD studentship in Bournemouth University, UK for development of a new Pressure sensor for Shoulder replacements and he is one of supervisors for the same.
