Every time we receive appreciation , it spurs the team on more. Our journey with Arthroscopic Transosseus cuff repair
started way back in 2015 with aim and mission to bring a cost effective way of doing arthroscopic Cuff repairs.
Our journey has been nothing short of exciting, with
hurdles, , all nighters, sweat and tears, but its all been worth it .
All started with a huddle between me, @ Dr Nehru , @
Er Om Prakash , and Prof Sankaran (NHHID), National health hub for device
development and instrumentation).
After initial ideation, for first version we came up
with a curved drill prototype but the device was so huge we couldnt put it to testing mode. Then after 4 design changes and countless failures , we came up with the locking screw mechanism for Transosseus jig.
Cant describe the joy in words when we had the
prototype in hand . Seeing one’s idea transform into a working prototype must be one of best thrills one could experience.
But then we realised it was only the start.
Medical product innovation is one of the toughest nut
to crack of all innovations bcos of regulations associated with it.
Prof Sankaran NHHID has been guiding light whenever
we have gone for his advice. Prof Muttan NHHID has encouraged multitude of times. Even during height of Covid times , we had our meetings , such was the commitment of Prof Sankaran and Prof Muttan.
Special thanks to NHHID for providing us with grant and believing in the team.
Our Engineer Er Om Prakash deserves a very special
mention as he is the backbone of the project. The most quietest of lot , but with extraordinary mechanical and innovative skills. Every time i tell him we need a revision( even if its 11th or 12 th time) he does it without hesitation.
Dr Nehru , my collaborator, co founder , orthopaedic surgeon has
always been there , whenever the chips were down to keep pushing us.Cant do it without him.

repair device” in its present form has helped innumerable patients directly and much more through the surgeons who have been trained to use them.
Along the way we have received multiple awards,
Medicall 2018 Gold medal for best innovation , Best Paper 2020 journal or orthopaedic and joint surgery, Best paper in Egyptian Shoulder society to name a few. Dr Raj Sirish , my orthopaedic junior consultant who has travelled considerable distance in this project and has done so much in bringing the product to research paper and publications . Kudos and thanks to him.
From ideation to product , and now we are seeing more surgeons adopting Arthroscopic Transosseus repair. Our goal is to teach, train and provide instrumentation (Arthrocuff ) to more surgeons to reach more patients.
